A Suribachi is a grooved Japanese ceramic mortar. With the help of a pestle called Surikogi, you can make purées with cooked cereals and vegetables, homemade Gomasio, etc. For these recipes, the food is crushed with the Surikogi using a circular, counter-clockwise motion, pressing against the mortar walls.
The Suribachi has an 18cm diameter.
