The ratio is usually 12 parts sesame to 1 part salt, although it can vary from 8:1 to 15:1, as common extreme proportions.
Gomasio can be made at home using a Suribachi, which is a Japanese mortar ideal for mixing the sesame oil with the salt grains (this is not possible using a coffee grinder).
Gomasio benefits from the qualities of its components (fats, proteins and minerals from the sesame and oligoelements from the salt), and is therefore recommended for daily use.
It promotes the secretion of gastric juices and is mildly diuretic.
People with high blood pressure should be aware of the high salt content.
